Advocacy for EGWP Parity in Drug Pricing Proposals

Since January 2020, the Roundtable has educated Congress, the Administration, MedPAC, and allied stakeholder about the importance of differentiating between stand-alone Medicare Part D plans and EGWPs in the context of drug pricing proposals (such as H.R. 3 and the Wyden/Grassley bipartisan bill).

Most recently, the Roundtable has coordinated efforts amongst a number of stakeholder entities including health plans, PBMs, consumer groups, benefit consultants, and Roundtable members to advocate in concert on this important issue. Our current efforts focus on Senate Finance Committee advocacy, as well as a number of key Senate Finance Committee members.

We also would like to thank Teachers’ Retirement System of Kentucky, School Employees Retirement System of Ohio, and Alabama PEEHIP for their leadership and efforts to differentiate EGWPs!

If your plan would like to become active in this specific advocacy effort, please contact Andrew MacPherson at Andrew@healthcareroundtable.org.

Annual Conference Returns to Alexandria, VA
Monday, Nov. 1 – Wednesday, Nov. 3

Given the rate at which the country is rebounding from the COVID pandemic, we are pleased to announce we’ll be returning to the Alexandrian Hotel in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia for an in-person 2021 Annual Conference.

The conference will open with a Reception on Monday evening, November 1st and will conclude early Wednesday afternoon, November 3rd. A preliminary agenda, together with hotel reservation information, will be announced in early August. For now, mark your calendar and begin planning to join us in Old Town Alexandria!

Given the popularity of last year’s virtual conference and recognizing that some travel restriction may still be in place in November, we are also considering options to provide portions of this year’s conference virtually. Those details will be announced later this summer.
